About the library
The library at the Royal Institute of Art is located in the main building. Our collections reflect teaching, projects, research and other current activities. The collection is formed together with students, teachers and researchers. A smaller section of the library can be found at Mindepartementet. The selection of literature and periodicals is based on Mindepartementet’s focus on photography, moving images, digital techniques and performance.
Relocation of the library
Kungl. The Royal Institute of Art’s main building will be renovated during the academic year 2024/2025. The property owner Statens Fastighetsverk [SFV] is responsible for the refurbishment project, which includes moving the library from floor 5 to the entrance floor.
From 18 March, the Royal Institute of Art’s library will be closed to external visitors. From 15 March the library will have limited service, and from 15 April the library will be closed for the move. Loans of books made before 15 April will be valid until the beginning of September 2024.
During the evacuation, a selection of the library’s stock with a focus on literature linked to the courses in the liberal arts programmes and some journals will be available at Mindepartementet on Skeppsholmen.
Literature and journals linked to the further education courses will be available at Hägerstensåsens Medborgarhus.
