ECONOMY & THE COMMONS
A dialogue between Luigi Coppola and Caroline Woolard
14.1.2022, 4-6.30 pm CET
Hus 28, Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm and online
Luigi Coppola is artist, activist and promoter of participatory projects, and co-activator of the Casa delle Agriculture. His practice is linked to the process of social re-appropriation of common goods starting from the analysis of specific social, political and cultural contexts. Scuola di Agriculture (2017 – ongoing), a pedagogical platform led by Coppola in Castiglione d’Otranto (Puglia, Italy) combines agro-ecological learning with artistic strategies and builds upon the participatory and commoning dynamics of the community of migrants, farmers and activists who formed the cooperative Casa delle Agriculture.
Caroline Woolard is a systems-change artist who, in making her art, becomes an economic critic, social justice facilitator, media maker, and sculptor. Since the financial crisis of 2007-8, Woolard has catalyzed barter communities, minted local currencies, founded an arts-policy think tank, and created a number of exhibitions. Woolard has inspired a generation of artists who wish to create self-organized, collaborative, online platforms alongside sculptural objects and installations.
The seminar is developed in the context of the Collective Practices postmaster. Please register latest 13 January by writing to hanna.husberg@kkh.se indicating if you will participate online or onsite and in case you have specific access-needs.
