A couple of years ago I had a studio that was small and messy. It had a desk, a loom, and a shelf filled with old cotton bed sheets, its contents spilling onto the floor. The room was originally built as a recording studio which made the atmosphere awkwardly quiet and cramped. There was one small window in the middle of the ceiling. One day, I think it was spring, a big bird came and lay down on that skylight. I tried to scare him off, but he sat where he sat. Returned day after day — would just sit there for many hours, then leave. A total eclipse.
