How might an artist act sustainably in a situation approaching an ecological collapse? What are the narratives and artistic investigations that this condition might generate?  These are some of the questions that the course The Photographic Artist’s Book: Performing sustainability will discuss from the perspectives of artists and strategies for artistic publication. This is a full-time, one-year advanced course for practitioners in the fields of art, publishing, photography and related enterprises, who have an interest in integrating theory and praxis. The course is given at Royal Institute of Art and incudes external collaborations, for example Abisko Scientific Research Station/Swedish Polar Research Secretariat. A total of 56 students have passed the course since 2014.
