2013/14: 3500 Churches – Problem or Opportunity?
Mejan Arc, Architectural Conservation 2013/2014, 60 ECTS
Current challenges in conservation work are rapid changes, new technology and new use. This demands active processes of change and creative initiatives with respect for building values in the work of architects, antiquarians and engineers. Swedish church buildings are currently undergoing the most comprehensive changes in their thousand-year old history. In this course we find knowledge in practical environments and sources at the forefront of research, and we conduct study trips, case studies and seminars. We examine the possibilities and limitations of restoration as a method, approach and process.
