Selection for the Fine Art programmes is based on work samples and interviews.
Note! The assessment of special entry requirements in the current application round takes place before the assessment of basic entry requirements. If you do not receive special entry requirements in the round, we will not look at your basic entry requirements (in cases where manual assessment is required).
Assessment of special entry requirements is done in March on work samples. The assessment is made by the professors and teachers who are part of the admission board in the current year. Everyone in the group looks through all the complete applications received.
Those who have been granted special entry requirements go on to Selection. The selection takes place in April.
The admission board for the fine art programmes varies from year to year, but always consists of professors, teachers, master’s-level fine art students, and an external representative (an artist not employed by the Royal Institute of Art).
The selection for the Master’s programme consists of several steps where the first step is interviews. After the interviews, the admission board votes for the group they wish to admit. The remaining interviewed applicants are ranked on a waiting list (reserves).
It is the responsible head of department who, on the recommendation of the admission board, decides on the group of admitted students and reserves.
Finally, admission is also affected by how individual applicants have ranked their application options in universityadmissions.se (if applying in Swedish – antagning.se).
(Be careful how you prioritize your application options in universityadmissions.se as you are automatically removed from lower priority application options if you are admitted to a programme within the same admission round).
