KKH’s Vinícius dos Santos exhibits at Odenplan metro station

Ochre Opera, Vinícius dos Santos.

Between April 11 and June 19, Vinícius dos Santos’ exhibition Bone Dust will be on display at Odenplan metro station, as part of Konstväxlingar på Odenplan. The opening takes place on April 11 at 14.00.

The paint used for the paintings in the exhibition is not just any paint. You could even say that the color is the story. Vinícius dos Santos, a student at the Royal Institute of Art, paints on paper with watercolors, inks and pigments he has made himself from precious stones and crystals. Material that he has collected in the two places he calls home, Sweden and Brazil.

In his paintings, dos Santos explores his own memories and the rocks of the landscape that may have existed since the beginning of time. When dos Santos crushes rocks to make pigments, he often thinks about all the layers that the rocks represent. Layers of ages of landscapes that have changed and are now hidden inside the stone, but also layers of stories and perhaps remnants of those who lived before him.

Vinícius dos Santos (born 1987) graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Royal Institute of Art in 2024 and is studying the Master’s programme with an upcoming graduation exhibition at Galleri Mejan in October 2025. Dos Santos works with painting, often on paper with self-made watercolor and ink paint.

Konstväxlingar i tunnelbanan is organized by Region Stockholm. Exhibitions at Odenplan metro platform have been held since 1996. Over 100 graduate artists and craftspeople have exhibited sculptures and installations there.
