Galleri Mejan is the Royal Institute of Art’s exhibition space, sited in the school’s direct vicinity on Skeppsholmen, Exercisplan 3, opposite Moderna Museet’s main entrance. Throughout the academic year, students enrolled in the Master’s programme in Fine Art exhibit their degree projects there. Usually two students have their exhibitions at the same time, accessible to the public for about 10 days. A critical seminar is held for each exhibition during its duration, in which a panel consisting of the respective supervising professor, another member of the faculty and an external advisor assesses the project of the graduating student. Together with the master thesis, the solo show is part of the syllabus, called “Independent project (degree project)” with the scope of 30 ETCS-credits.
