What should the application to the five-year programme contain?

Step 1

In universityadmissions.se, you upload documents to show your basic qualifications.

If you have grades from Swedish upper secondary school, they can already be found in the portal. If you have other documents that are not already there, such as grades from another country or supplementary education that you want us to include in the assessment, they must be uploaded here.

If you do not have full grades, it is important that we get to see the subjects and educations you have read anyway, so that we can make an assessment of whether we think you have the capacity to carry out our education. In that case, there is an opportunity for us to grant exemption from complete high school grades. In order to pass our education, it is primarily important to have knowledge of Swedish and English.

If you are a current secondary school student, please upload certificates from your school showing that you are expected to graduate this spring.

It is possible to do our five-year programme completely in English. Some parts that are given in Swedish then has to be completed through addition assignments.

Step 2

In our application portal, you upload work samples and text.

Work samples

  • You must upload 6-8 work samples, such as paintings, drawings, photographs, graphics, objects, sculptures, videos, etc. Each work sample can contain up to 5 images.
  • Each work sample must show one (1) work. What you count as a work is up to you. A work can be a painting or a sculpture that you choose to display with one or more images (up to five), such as overview images, close-ups, installation images. A work can also be several images that belong together or photos that are, for example, an account of an installation, a performance or still images from a video next to the video.
  • If you have films or video works longer than 3 minutes, you also need to upload a short trailer of 30-60 sek of the complete work.
  • Accepted file formats for movies are MOV, MP4 (MPEG4) or AVI, max 1080p, however no more than 2GB/movie, JPG for picture (max 7 MB/picture) and MP3 for audio (2 channel stereo is used during the application process but there is a possibility for 7.1 channel audio).

The application can only be made on your own merits. If you work collectively, you need to specify what is your part / your task / your contribution to the work.

Note! An attached link to a website is not accepted!

You must also enter the following data about the works:

  • dimensions (size)
  • material
  • playing time (about moving images)
  • year when you did the work (year of creation)

You can also choose to write a short description of each work. You should do this in the field for description, not directly in the pictures of the work sample.

Note! Be careful not to make files too large, as they take a long time to load and may prevent the admission board from seeing your work properly.

Text

You are also welcome to write a personal text for your application. The text should be a shorter (max 350 words) description of your artistic work. You can also tell about other things that affect your creation, such as experiences or knowledge from other contexts.

Since we have English-speaking members of the admission board, the text can be in English, or both in Swedish and English. If you feel more comfortable with Swedish, you can write in Swedish with a shorter summary in English. (The maximum number of words applies for one language, but the total maximum number of characters for both languages is 2500 characters).

For the five-year programme, however, the text is not mandatory.

Here are answers to the most common problems:

  • If the system is not accepting your registration number (“anmälningsnummer”), make sure you have written your personal eight numbers number, and not the code (anmälningskod) for the programme.
  • If the system is not accepting your phone number, make sure it is written in the right format.
  • If your pictures are not uploading – make sure the title of the file does not contain any strange characters. Try to save the files with a new name only containing letters.
  • If your texts are not saved in the system – sometimes strange characters gets into the text when it is copied from Word. Try to write directly in the system or save your text as a pure text-file and try pasting it again.
  • If some of your pictures only show as question marks, it is usually only the thumb nail, and the application board is able to see the full pictures from their view.
  • If you are trying to delete pictures it takes some time before the file is deleted, especially if it is a big file. Please close the system and re-enter after a little while again.
