The Latin verb Terrēre is the basis of both the words; terrible and terrific, which has two very different meanings. Terrible is something frightening and terrific is instead something very good or intense. The Swedish translation of terrible is fruktansvärd and if you look up that word it means something that is worth fearing (värd att frukta). Therefore the comparison suits; having a baby and falling terribly in love.

What scenes took place in room 42 at Hotel l’Esperance, Paris, 1953? And how are they related to my first year as a mother?

On five occasions during this exhibition the door to room 42 will open and I will invite the audience to a 40 min long lecture performance where I will explain the unknown similarities of the romantic relationship between the artists Unica Zürn and Hans Bellmer and the relationship between me and my daughter. Two stories, almost a century apart, intertwined by love, jealousy and doll making.
